Guide
How it works
Use this calculator to convert annual salary into estimated monthly pay. It is useful for budgeting rent, bills, savings, and recurring expenses that are usually planned on a monthly basis.
What this calculator does
The monthly pay calculator divides annual salary into 12 monthly amounts.
It uses:
- annual salary
- 12 months per year
- weekly equivalent conversion
- gross pay assumptions
This gives an estimated gross monthly salary before taxes and deductions.
How to use the monthly pay calculator
Enter your annual salary. The calculator divides it by 12 to estimate gross monthly pay and also shows weekly and annual equivalents.
For net monthly pay, use the Paycheck Calculator with monthly pay frequency or the Net Salary Calculator.
Monthly Pay Formula
Monthly pay = annual salary / 12
Weekly equivalent = annual salary / 52
Example calculation
If:
- Annual salary = 84,000
- Months per year = 12
- Weekly equivalent = 1,615.38
- Monthly gross pay = 7,000
Then:
Monthly pay = 84,000 / 12 = 7,000
The estimated gross monthly salary is 7,000.00 before tax and deductions.
What is monthly pay?
Monthly pay is compensation paid once per month. It is common for salaried employees and makes recurring household budgeting easier because many expenses are monthly.
Gross monthly pay is not the same as the amount deposited after payroll deductions.
Interpreting your result
Monthly gross pay helps compare salary offers and budget at a high level. For spending plans, estimate net monthly pay after tax, retirement contributions, benefits, and other deductions.
